Explaining FOS and MOS

How DO they benefit the digestive tract?

MOS

Definition: mannonoligosaccharide is derived from the cell walls of a specific strain of yeast culture

Positives: acts as a prebiotic in the digestive system by tricking harmful bacteria into binding to it and thus carrying them out of the system. MOS also attaches to the same sites in the digestive tract that harmful bacteria would attach and thus preventing them from doing so; both help to decrease harmful bacteria therefore improving digestive tract health and also boosting the immune system

FOS

Definition: also known as fructooligosaccharide, or inulin is often extracted from chicory root, is a carbohydrate that is indigestible by mammals and acts as a prebiotic in the digestive system by providing a food source for beneficial bacteria which can then out compete harmful bacteria

Positives: this product has been scientifically shown to benefit animals by improving beneficial bacteria numbers in the digestive system and thus improving overall digestive health including boosting the immune system

Notes: there are many products on the market with differing processing methods and levels of purity
