- Limited ingredient recipes available
Can pets switch immediately from the former GO! canned recipes to the new GO! SOLUTIONS wet food recipes in Tetra Pak cartons?
Because our new GO! SOLUTIONS wet food recipes in Tetra Pak cartons are formulated differently from our previous canned recipes, we recommend switching pets gradually over a 10-day period to help avoid digestive upset:
- Day 1 & 2: Feed 80% of your pet’s old food with 20% of the new food
- Day 3 & 4: Feed 60% of your pet’s old food with 40% of the new food
- Day 5 & 6: Feed 40% of your pet’s old food with 60% of the new food
- Day 7, 8 & 9: Feed 20% of your pet’s old food with 80% of the new food
- Day 10 & Forever: Feed 100% new food
How are the GO! SOLUTIONS wet food recipes cooked?
The GO! SOLUTIONS wet food recipes are cooked at a low temperature for the shortest time possible. They are cooked directly in the Tetra Pak cartons to help prevent cross contamination. This cooking process helps to ensure the following:
- Improved ingredient digestibility and nutrient availability
- Improved protein functionality and palatability
- The food is made shelf-stable
Are ingredients such as cassia gum and guar gum bad for pets? Why do you use gums in your wet food recipes?
No, we never use “bad ingredients” in our recipes. We use naturally-derived carbohydrates cassia gum, from the seeds of Cassia tora and Cassia obtusifolia, and guar gum, from seed pods of the Indian cluster plant, in our GO! SOLUTIONS wet food recipes because they are rich sources of soluble fibre with prebiotic properties and they help us achieve our unique textures.
Are there any preservatives in the GO! SOLUTIONS wet food recipes?
The GO! SOLUTIONS wet food recipes are free from preservatives. The manufacturing process and packaging type ensures food safety and quality without the use of preservatives.
What is the shelf life of the GO! SOLUTIONS wet food recipes?
Sealed: 24 months.
Opened: once opened, the recipes have a similar shelf life to our canned products. We recommend storing opened wet food containers in the fridge for maximum 3-4 days.
How do you open and reclose Tetra Pak cartons?
Tetra Pak cartons allow for easy opening and reclosing by hand without the need for additional equipment or plastic wrap/foil. The packaging includes visual step-by-step instructions, and the video below shows how this can be done.
Why use a Tetra Pak carton instead of a can or a pouch?
Tetra Pak cartons are a highly sustainable option in that they are manufactured from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paperboard made from 65% renewable materials, they are 100% recyclable, and they are more compact to ship, which means less impact on the environment.
Is the lining of the Tetra Pak cartons BPA-free and food safe?
Yes, the lining of the Tetra Pak cartons is a food grade polypropylene layer, which is BPA-free. The lining is FDA approved for food contact and is widely used in human foods such as yogurt and is regularly used in reusable food storage containers and single serve tubs. It’s non-volatile and doesn’t react to liquids, acids, or bases, making it a perfect option to store a wide variety of foods.
Why is pork plasma included in some of the GO! SOLUTIONS wet food recipes?
The proteins found in this ingredient have unique properties that can be used to give wet pet food its recognizable texture. Achieving the correct texture is an important factor in pet food palatability, especially for cats. Albumin, globulins and fibrinogen, which make up most proteins in plasma, produce a stable and compact structure when cooked. Compared to other texture-modifying ingredients, plasma can be used as a nutrient-rich ingredient to improve the overall texture of wet pet food. Not only is it highly palatable, but can provide unique health benefits such as:
- Improved digestion and decreased fecal output
- Antibacterial effects
- Decreased gut inflammation
Are the dry food recipes the same as the wet food recipes?
GO! SOLUTIONS wet food ingredient panels closely align with their complementary dry food recipes, but they are not identical. Dry and wet food must be formulated to meet the requirements of their different formats to achieve recipes that are perfectly complete and balanced.
